Taylor’s University welcomes MOHE’s recent announcement stating their intention of introducing hybrid programmes at varsity level in addition to shortening the duration of study for some programmes from 4 to 3 years. Overall, both moves will bring about more flexibility, reduce financial burden, and help students graduate and join the workforce earlier. That said, we urge the government and universities to ensure the implementation is effective without compromising the quality of graduates so that the employability of the graduates will not be compromised. To that extent, there are a few areas of focus in terms of hybrid programmes that both MOHE and universities can emphasise on to ensure the quality of both lear...

From March 2022 onwards, as life seemed to make its way back to normality, children started to attend school, enrichment classes, and sports activities again. This has led to many young kids falling ill with diseases such as influenza, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, and lung infections. An elevated frequency of visits to the doctor has worried many parents that their children may be immunocompromised. Could it be true that children are more prone to infections after the pandemic? Children commonly have 8 to 10 respiratory tract infections per year, especially during early childhood and when they first start attending nursery or kindergarten.
