Baju Kurung searched close to 3.3 million times during Ramadan 2021 With the lockdowns changing the way we shop in recent years, Shopee’s Ramadan month data between 2019 and 2021 shows that Malaysians have become more intuitive when it comes to online shopping. With the advancement of technology and how Ramadan shopping is turning to be more digital, Shopee has experienced a spike in searches for items across all segments on the platform throughout the Ramadan period in the last three years. The keyword Baju Kurung was searched close to 3.3 million times throughout the Ramadan season in 2021. This was a 433 percent increase from the same period in 2020. In 2020 Ramadan month, the keyword increased in popularity by 265 percent compared to the same period the previous year. In the health and beauty segment, the keyword foundation was searched more than 90,000 times on Shopee, a significant increase compared to 2019 where it was searched about 28,000 times. Shopee launches ShopeeFood in Malaysia

Shopee earlier this week, expanded its services with the latest addition of ShopeeFood in Malaysia, accessible via the ShopeeFood icon on Shopee’s homepage. Through this, users can shop for all their needs, including food delivery, on Shopee. More than 70,000 new local MSMEs benefitted from Shopee 9.9 Super Shopping Day on the back of robust shopping activities

Shopee Malaysia saw a robust start to the year-end shopping season and its continuous push for digitalisation paying off this 9.9 Super Shopping Day. It reported that its flagship shopping festival had successfully benefitted over 70,000 new local micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) who participated in the sale for the first time ever. Meanwhile, the top 50 local MSMEs across the platform — based on single-day revenue performance — recorded an average sale of about RM350,000 each as Malaysians adopted a “shop local first” approach. Blind Couple Found New Livelihood on Shopee Following Closure of a Restaurant They Worked At

A blind couple who lost their source of income following the closure of a restaurant they worked at two months ago found new hope selling food and fitness products on Shopee. Yusri Azis and his wife Nur Jannah Tan Jia Hui set up their Shopee store, Yus Bisnes , with the help of fellow Universiti Malaya coursemate Fa Phong in the first week of June 2021. Upon setting up the Shopee store, the couple took to Facebook to promote their store. Survey reveals optimism ahead of Shopee 11.11 Big Sale, as sellers anticipate store sales to climb 100% at the shopping festival A recent survey conducted by e-commerce platform Shopee amongst 11,850 Malaysian sellers show that e-commerce is creating new livelihoods and opportunities amid rising economic challenges, with 70% citing that they have up to six dependants. As such, despite being fully employed, 35.4% of the overall respondents reveal that they have turned to e-commerce for a second and even third, source of household income. These sellers were found to be making an average of RM2,750* per month selling on Shopee alone.
