The International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival 2019 (KLEFF 2019) was successfully launched at Taman Tugu earlier this wek to celebrate the 12th installation of the film festival with the theme “Climate Action…Now!”.

Fadly Bakhtiar (KLEFF Festival Director), Aina Ahmad (Brand Communications Manager of Kiehl’s Malaysia), Ms. Stephanie (Vice President of Malaysian Nature Society) and Dr. Yasmin Rasyid (KLEFF Founder & Honorary Advisor) took a group photo during the launching ceremony of KLEFF 2019. The honourable guests received a forest tree sapling which is part of the Trees for Tomorrow programme, a collaborative effort between KLEFF and Friends of Taman Tugu to plant 100 seedlings within 1 year as part of their commitment to take Climate Action…Now!
This year’s theme will explore the stories of people and organizations committed to taking climate action to create maximum impact on sustainable development. The Festival received a total of 233 submissions on environment-themed films from 48 countries and out of these, 86 ground-breaking films of various lengths and genres will be screened throughout the Festival.

“Films are very powerful tools, I want to see how Malaysia can use films to get people to start thinking differently, to spark conversations, to take actions, to make something out of everything…I hope KLEFF in its 12th year, will resonate with the Malaysian public and inspire them to take immediate action for a better and sustainable Malaysia,” said Yasmin Rasyid, KLEFF Founder & Honorary Advisor during her welcoming speech.
The fellow KLEFF partners, collaborators and guest members took a group photo after the event to commemorate the launch of the 12th International Kuala Lumpur Eco Film Festival.
Present at today’s launching ceremony with Dr. Yasmin Rasyid were Mr. Fadly Bakhtiar (KLEFF Festival Director), Ms. Stephanie Bacon (Vice President of Malaysian Nature Society (MNS)), Ms. Aina Ahmad (Brand Communications Manager of Kiehl’s Malaysia), Mdm.
