Recognised for “Best in Neuro-Inclusivity in the Workplace”
Touch ‘n Go Group added another feather to its cap when it was awarded ‘Company of the Year’ (Fintech category) at the recent Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2024. The award serves as recognition of the Group’s commitment in driving neuro-inclusivity in the workplace.
At the heart of Touch ‘n Go Group’s sustainability efforts is its commitment to “Treating People Fairly” which focuses on empowering the differently-abled, the inclusion of underbanked communities, and promoting responsible consumption. The Group currently works with Yayasan Gamuda’s Enabling Academy and Infinite Minds Academy to provide employment opportunities for neurodivergent talents. It also uplifts the differently-abled community through financial aid and employee volunteering activities.
This is the second year that Touch ‘n Go has been awarded by the Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards. Commenting on the award win, Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd Chief Corporate Development Officer Lum Joy Deng said, “We are honoured to have our sustainability efforts and commitment to neuro-inclusivity recognised at the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards. Touch ‘n Go has always been passionate about supporting the differently-abled communities as we believe that every neurodivergent individual deserves the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We have also taken significant steps to hire neurodivergent talents as part of our work force.”
“Fostering an inclusive workplace culture is imperative at Touch ‘n Go Group and we do this by raising awareness and understanding on the unique strengths and perspectives that neurodivergent individuals bring. We recognise their capabilities and immense talents, and we hope to create opportunities that allow them to thrive within our organisation,” said Lum.
Beyond the workplace, the Group supports neurodivergent and differently-abled communities through various community outreach programmes. These include contributing towards United Voice's various projects which help their members earn a meaningful living, as well as collaborating with IDEAS Autism Centre for a pre-vocational programme aimed at helping underserved youth on the spectrum attain a sustainable livelihood. The Group also encourages employees to engage in volunteering activities alongside NGO partners dedicated to empowering the neurodivergent and differently-abled community.
In 2023, Touch ‘n Go Group channelled close to RM1 million towards community outreach efforts and support for the neurodivergent and differently-abled community. Throughout the year, 639 employees actively volunteered in various CSR efforts, contributing a total of 2,259 volunteer hours.
The annual Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards is jointly organised by CSR Malaysia publication and the CSR Malaysia Welfare Society, supporting the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry. The Awards honour outstanding corporations in Malaysia that have excelled in the role of change agents in the socio-economic transformation of Malaysia.
