AirAsia Group President (RedBeat Ventures) Aireen Omar receiving the IDC DXa 2019 Digital Transformer of the Year award from IDC Asean Managing Director Sudev Bangah. |
AirAsia has been named Digital Transformer of the Year for Malaysia at the IDC Digital Transformation Awards (DXa) 2019. The award honours companies that have demonstrated success in projects where there is synergy between business and IT management disciplines, and that have delivered digitally-enabled products and services over a sustained period.
AirAsia won the IDC DXa's top prize for discernible and measurable excellence in deploying many innovative technologies to deliver more personalised products and services, optimise ancillary revenue and enhance customer service, and for transforming leadership, talent and infrastructure to support its new digital strategies.
These new technologies include cloud computing, pricing optimisation through machine learning, AI-powered chatbot, mobile app chatroom and facial recognition technology, among others.
AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes also won the DX Leader award in recognition of his role in providing the vision for the company's digital transformation and spearheading its evolution into a travel and lifestyle technology company.
AirAsia Group President (RedBeat Ventures) Aireen Omar accepted both awards on behalf of AirAsia at the IDC Digital Transformation Summit 2019 at The St Regis Kuala Lumpur today.
AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said, "We are thrilled to receive these awards. We've been trying to show the world that we are a technology company that just happens to have some planes, and I'm extremely excited that AirAsia has been recognised as a digital transformation leader. These awards mean a lot because it's exactly what we're trying to do and we really appreciate the recognition that IDC has given us."
AirAsia Group President (RedBeat Ventures) Aireen Omar said, "Today wouldn't be possible if we didn't have Allstars who share our digital vision. Without their hard work, perseverance and passion, we would not have been able to achieve so much in such a short time. Our business partners too have been very supportive, especially Google Cloud, who will be instrumental in turning AirAsia into Malaysia’s first 100% cloud-driven enterprise by year end."
IDC DXa honours the achievements of organisations that have successfully planned and executed the digital transformation of one or multiple areas of their business through the application of digital and disruptive technologies.
