From the legendary Proton Saga to the all-electric e.MAS 7, the new collection turns some of Malaysia’s most recognisable cars into wearable designs.
UNIQLO Malaysia is teaming up with PROTON for a distinctly Malaysian collaboration, bringing some of the national carmaker’s most recognisable models to T-shirts and tote bags through the UTme! PROTON Collection.
Launching on 28 September 2026, the exclusive collection combines UNIQLO’s LifeWear concept with PROTON’s automotive heritage, celebrating the cars that have been part of Malaysian life across generations.
For many Malaysians, a PROTON is more than simply a way of getting from one place to another. It could be the first car they learnt to drive, the family car used for balik kampung journeys, or the vehicle that accompanied them through daily commutes and important milestones.
That shared connection forms the inspiration behind the collaboration, captured through the idea:

Celebrating PROTON Through the Generations
As Malaysia’s first national carmaker, PROTON has played a significant role in the country’s automotive landscape since the 1980s.
The collaboration looks back at that journey through five PROTON models representing different chapters of the brand’s evolution.
Naturally, it begins with the Proton Saga, the model that started it all in 1985. The collection also features the Satria Neo R3, a model remembered by Malaysian motoring enthusiasts for its sporty character.
Representing a newer generation of PROTON vehicles are the S70 and X50, while the e.MAS 7 brings the story into the electric era.
Together, the five cars chart PROTON’s journey from Malaysia’s first national car to its latest generation of vehicles.
Malaysian Cars, Reimagined by a Malaysian Artist
Rather than simply placing photographs of the cars onto apparel, the collection gives each model its own illustrated treatment.
The artwork was created by Malaysian artist Syaiful Bahri, who brings a local creative perspective to the vehicles and transforms them into designs made to be worn.
The collaboration also reflects UNIQLO’s wider approach to UTme!, its customisation platform that allows art, culture and local stories to become part of everyday LifeWear.
