Pos Malaysia Launches World Post Day 2026 with Special Stamp and Malaysia’s First Electric Three-Wheeler Fleet for Last-Mile Delivery

For more than 200 years, Pos Malaysia has been part of everyday life in Malaysia, from delivering handwritten letters and postcards to handling parcels ordered through online shopping platforms.

While the way Malaysians communicate and shop has changed considerably, the national postal service continues to evolve with new technology and delivery solutions.

To mark World Post Day 2026 on 9 October, Pos Malaysia Berhad unveiled a special commemorative stamp and showcased Malaysia's first electric three-wheeler for last-mile delivery, highlighting its efforts to combine postal heritage with innovation and more sustainable logistics.

Held under the theme "One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities", the celebration brought together several initiatives, including the World Post Day 2026 stamp launch, The Wira Award 2026, the KESEF 2026 Stamp Folio Competition prize presentation and the introduction of a new electric delivery vehicle.

The event was officiated by YB Dato' Seri Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications, alongside Datuk Imri Mokhtar, Board Member of Pos Malaysia, with representatives from government agencies, industry partners and the company's senior leadership team in attendance.

Pos Malaysia's Postal Network Reaches More Than 11 Million Addresses
Despite the growing popularity of digital communication, postal and parcel services remain essential for connecting people and businesses across Malaysia.

Today, Pos Malaysia's nationwide delivery network reaches more than 11 million addresses, supported by over 3,000 touchpoints across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

The company is also transforming from a traditional postal operator into a parcel-led, digitally enabled logistics and services provider, incorporating data, artificial intelligence (AI) and network modernisation into its operations.

According to Pos Malaysia, these improvements have contributed to stronger delivery performance and customer satisfaction.

Among the operational achievements highlighted by the company are:

  • Next-day parcel delivery performance exceeding 92%, compared with an industry average of 82%.
  • 95% on-time mail delivery across Malaysia.
  • 91% reliability as tracked by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
  • Two dedicated aircraft serving Sabah and Sarawak, supporting connectivity between Peninsular and East Malaysia.
Pos Malaysia also reported improvements in its Net Promoter Scores, a measure of customer satisfaction and willingness to recommend a service.

Its retail services score increased from 32.0 to 99.6, while its delivery services score rose from 56.7 to 87.1.

These figures reflect the company's efforts to improve its services while adapting to growing demand from e-commerce businesses and consumers.

One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities
The theme for World Post Day 2026 reflects the continuing importance of postal networks in connecting communities and supporting economic activities.

Beyond delivering letters and parcels, postal services help businesses reach customers, facilitate cross-border trade and provide essential connectivity to communities across the country.

For Pos Malaysia, this means finding new ways to make its nationwide infrastructure more efficient, accessible and environmentally responsible.

"World Post Day is an opportunity to celebrate the vital role postal services continue to play in connecting people and businesses. While our heritage spans more than 200 years, our focus is firmly on the future. From digital solutions and expanded logistics capabilities to sustainable delivery innovations such as electric vehicles, we are continuously transforming how we serve Malaysians," said Datuk Imri Mokhtar.

"This year's theme, 'One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities', reflects exactly what we are building at Pos Malaysia today, a postal network that continues to evolve, create value and unlock new opportunities for the communities and businesses we serve."

Recognising Pos Malaysia's Everyday Heroes Through The Wira Award 2026
World Post Day was also an opportunity to recognise the employees who keep Malaysia's postal and delivery network running.

Through The Wira Award 2026, Pos Malaysia honoured outstanding employees for their dedication, service quality and contributions to the organisation.

The awards recognised excellence across four categories:

  • Best Postman
  • Best Courier
  • Best Retail
  • Best Customer Service
These categories acknowledge the different roles involved in ensuring letters, parcels and other essential services reach customers across Malaysia.

From postmen and couriers handling daily deliveries to frontline employees assisting customers at post offices, their work remains central to the company's nationwide operations.

KESEF 2026 Stamp Folio Competition Celebrates Malaysian Culture
Another highlight was the prize presentation and showcase for the KESEF 2026 Stamp Folio Competition.

Held under the theme "Rentasan budaya, cerita Malaysia melalui setem", the competition encouraged students and educators to explore Malaysian culture, history and storytelling through stamps.

The competition recognised five overall category winners, representing different education levels and teachers.

The winning institutions included SK Kg Baharu Lanjut in Sepang, SMK Tanjong Bunga in Kelantan, SM Sains Kuala Selangor, SMK Dato Ahmad Maher in Kelantan and SK Kg Baharu Lanjut in Selangor.

Beyond collecting stamps, the competition demonstrated how philately can serve as a creative educational activity, encouraging participants to appreciate Malaysia's cultural diversity and heritage.

Malaysia's First Electric Three-Wheeler for Last-Mile Delivery
One of the more interesting announcements during World Post Day 2026 was the showcase of Malaysia's first electric three-wheeler designed for last-mile delivery.

The vehicle represents Pos Malaysia's latest effort to introduce more sustainable and practical transport solutions into its delivery operations.

Designed with urban deliveries in mind, the electric three-wheeler aims to improve rider safety, increase parcel-carrying capacity and support deliveries without tailpipe emissions.

Its three-wheeled configuration offers a different approach to conventional motorcycle-based delivery, particularly in densely populated areas where delivery personnel frequently travel between multiple destinations.

However, the electric three-wheeler has not yet been introduced into regular delivery operations. Pos Malaysia plans to deploy the vehicle progressively, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.

Once approved and introduced, it is expected to complement the company's existing electric vans and electric motorcycles.

One in Three Pos Malaysia Parcels Is Already Delivered Using Electric Vehicles
The electric three-wheeler is part of a wider effort by Pos Malaysia to reduce the environmental impact of its delivery operations.

According to the company, one in every three parcels it handles is already delivered using an electric vehicle.

This reflects the growing role of electric vans and motorcycles within its existing delivery fleet, as Pos Malaysia continues expanding its fleet electrification efforts.

Unlike petrol-powered vehicles, electric vehicles produce no tailpipe emissions during operation. Their overall environmental impact, however, also depends on factors such as electricity generation and vehicle production.

By introducing additional vehicle types, Pos Malaysia aims to create a more versatile delivery fleet that can respond to different operational requirements while supporting its sustainability goals.

The electric three-wheeler could eventually provide another option for deliveries in busy urban areas, where efficiency, manoeuvrability and parcel capacity are important considerations.

Balancing Postal Heritage With the Future of Deliveries
World Post Day 2026 offered a glimpse into how Pos Malaysia is approaching the next chapter of its operations.

On one hand, the commemorative stamp and philately activities celebrate the history and cultural importance of postal services in Malaysia. On the other, the introduction of electric delivery vehicles and continued digital transformation demonstrate how the company is adapting to changing consumer and business needs.

As online shopping, parcel deliveries and cross-border commerce continue shaping the logistics industry, Pos Malaysia's nationwide infrastructure remains an important part of connecting Malaysians.

The challenge moving forward will be maintaining that extensive reach while improving delivery performance, customer experience and environmental sustainability.

With its World Post Day 2026 celebration, Pos Malaysia has highlighted how a postal network built over two centuries can continue evolving to meet the needs of a more connected and digitally driven Malaysia.
