Paramount Cup 2026 Recognised as APP Asia Qualifier
The recognition of Paramount Cup 2026 as an APP Asia Qualifier provided a competitive platform for pickleball players from Malaysia and overseas.
The tournament featured Open divisions contested by international and Malaysian competitors, alongside age-group categories designed to accommodate players at different stages of their sporting development.
With more than 1,000 entries recorded across the competition, the event attracted participants from 18 countries, reflecting the expanding regional and international appeal of pickleball.
The inclusion of players from countries such as India, Japan, Australia, the Philippines, the United States and the United Kingdom contributed to the international character of the tournament.
The four-day event also provided Malaysian players with opportunities to compete against international opponents and gain experience in a competitive tournament environment.
As pickleball continues to attract interest among recreational and competitive players, tournaments such as Paramount Cup create opportunities for participants to test their skills while building connections within the wider sporting community.
Vanshik Kapadia and Connie Na Eun Lee Win Mixed Doubles Open
Among the tournament's Open division results, Vanshik Kapadia of India and Connie Na Eun Lee of the United States emerged as champions in the Mixed Doubles Open category.
The pair defeated Malaysia's Ng Dickson and Joseline Ngu Tze Qin in the final, securing an 11-5, 11-2 victory.
Kapadia also claimed a second title in the Men's Doubles Open, partnering Roman Estareja of the United States.
In the Women's Doubles Open, Malaysia's Nursharmeen Shamsuddin partnered Jasmine Almaguer of the United States to win the championship.
Meanwhile, Patrick Ares Mendoza of the Philippines emerged as the Men's Singles Open champion.
The results highlighted the international representation across the tournament's major categories, with players from several countries claiming titles.
Malaysian competitors were also represented among the champions and finalists, including Nursharmeen Shamsuddin in the Women's Doubles Open and the local pair who reached the Mixed Doubles Open final.
Eight Junior Categories Introduced for 134 Young Players
A significant development in this year's Paramount Cup was the introduction of eight junior categories, attracting 134 participants.
The expanded junior programme included Under-10, Under-12 and Under-14 co-ed divisions, alongside Under-16 Boys' Singles and Doubles competitions.
These categories were introduced to provide younger players with opportunities to participate in organised matches, improve their skills and gain experience in a competitive setting.
The programme also allowed junior participants to observe more experienced players competing in the Open divisions at the same tournament.
For young athletes interested in developing their pickleball abilities, exposure to different playing styles and competitive environments can provide useful learning opportunities.
Among the junior results, Malaysia's Brandon Basas secured the Under-16 Boys' Singles title after winning the final 11-6, 11-4.
The addition of junior categories reflects the tournament's intention to encourage participation across different age groups rather than concentrating exclusively on adult competition.
Senior Pickleball Categories Encourage Participation Across Generations
Paramount Cup 2026 also included age-group competitions for more experienced players, creating opportunities for adults and seniors to participate in organised pickleball matches.
The tournament featured Men's and Women's 35+ categories, alongside Men's 45+ and Mixed Doubles 45+ events.
By accommodating players from junior age groups through to senior divisions, the tournament aimed to encourage continued involvement in pickleball at different stages of life.
The format also allowed participants with different experience levels and competitive objectives to take part in the same event.
For recreational players, age-group competitions can provide an opportunity to transition into organised tournaments, while more experienced competitors can continue testing their abilities against others in their respective categories.
The combination of junior, adult and senior divisions helped establish Paramount Cup as an event intended to accommodate a broad range of pickleball participants.

Paramount Cup Festival Welcomes More Than 2,000 Visitors
Beyond the competitive matches, Paramount Cup 2026 introduced additional activities through the Paramount Cup Festival, held on 24 and 25 October 2026.
The two-day festival attracted more than 2,000 players, supporters and visitors, providing activities for those attending the tournament as spectators or accompanying participating players.
A total of 22 local vendors participated in the festival, offering food, beverages and other products.
The programme also included five complimentary family workshops, covering activities such as sustainable crafts, interactive science and pickleball-themed art.
These activities were intended to extend the tournament experience beyond the competition courts, encouraging families and visitors to participate even if they were not competing in the tournament.
For supporters attending matches, the festival provided additional ways to spend time at the venue between games.
The involvement of local vendors also created opportunities for businesses to engage with visitors during the event.
By combining competitive sport with accessible family activities, the festival broadened Paramount Cup's appeal to audiences beyond active pickleball players.
Paramount Cup Raises RM10,050 for SHELTER Home for Children
Community fundraising was another major component of Paramount Cup 2026, with the tournament raising RM10,050 for SHELTER Home for Children.
The funds were collected through a ringgit-for-ringgit contribution initiative involving PLAYA Racquet Club and Paramount Property.
Under the arrangement, PLAYA contributed RM5 for each tournament entry, while Paramount Property matched the contribution with an additional RM5.
The combined contributions resulted in a total donation of RM10,050, supporting SHELTER's work with vulnerable children and families.
According to the organisers, the funds will benefit SHELTER's residential home caring for 40 children, as well as a community outreach outpost serving more than 30 children from B40 families.
The donation will contribute towards essential care and trauma restoration programmes, including professional counselling, educational therapy and mentorship.
These services support children affected by abuse, neglect and abandonment, addressing needs that extend beyond immediate residential care.
The fundraising initiative illustrates how participation in a sporting competition can also generate contributions towards community welfare programmes.
Paramount Property Highlights Community Impact Through Sport
Beh Chun Chong, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer of Paramount Corporation Berhad, said the tournament had developed into a platform that connects sporting participation with community development.
"Paramount Cup has grown into more than a sporting competition. It has become a platform that brings people together, nurtures young talent and creates opportunities to give back to the community. We are particularly heartened that this year's tournament has raised more than RM10,000 for SHELTER Home for Children, demonstrating what we can achieve when people come together for a shared purpose," he said.
"As The People's Developer, we remain committed to creating places and experiences that enrich lives and strengthen communities."
His remarks reflect Paramount Property's intention to use the tournament as more than a conventional sporting event, incorporating youth development, community engagement and charitable giving.
The programme's expansion to include additional junior categories and a two-day festival formed part of this wider approach.
PLAYA Racquet Club Focuses on Competition and Junior Development
Brian Choo, Director of PLAYA Racquet Club, highlighted the importance of providing a well-organised competition while creating opportunities for younger players to learn from experienced competitors.
"For players, a tournament must offer strong competition and seamless organisation, which guided our execution from day one. Staging Open and junior categories side by side gave young players direct visibility into what elite play looks like. We want every participant to leave inspired to keep developing their game," he said.
The simultaneous inclusion of Open and junior categories allowed participants to experience different levels of competition within the same tournament environment.
For junior players, opportunities to observe skilled competitors can complement their own match experience, particularly as they continue developing their techniques and understanding of competitive play.
PLAYA's involvement in the event also extended to its charitable contribution, with the club pledging RM5 for each tournament entry as part of the fundraiser for SHELTER.
