Balancing Growth and Development of Generation Alpha

All-new Anmum ESSENTIAL GOLD supports all rounded developmental needs of children aged one to six years
Every mother wants the best for her child. Today’s young children aged one to six years belongs to what is known as the ‘generation Alpha’ or the group who are born into a fast-paced digital world and whose overall development is more important than ever.

That’s why new Anmum ESSENTIAL GOLD is scientifically formulated with key nutrients to support the all rounded growth and development of children aged one to six. Anmum ESSENTIAL GOLD is formulated with 33% more DHA*, MFGM+ GA, prebiotics and 15 key nutrients. Good nutrition and stimulation are important to support the eight importantareas of a child’s development.

The 8 important areas of development include physical growth; good gut environment to absorb nutrients needed to support physical growth; good body resistance to help the child stay protected; cognitive development including learning ability; eye development, which supports both the ability to focus and learn and social and emotional development.

A recent Anmum Essential online survey showed nine out of ten mums agreed there are many areas of their children’s growth and development they need to support. The survey polled 304 Malaysian mothers with children aged one to six years. However, some of those parents also admitted that they don’t place equal importance on every aspect of their child’s development.

Dr Rajini
For example, the importance of healthy eye development and social and emotional development can be overlooked. Dr. Rajini Sarvananthan, Consultant General and Developmental Paediatrician says parents need to understand that children’s social and emotional development influences all other areas of development.

“Social and emotional development allows children to understand who they are, what they are feeling and what to expect when interacting with others. It will go on to help them form and sustain positive relationships; experience, manage and express emotions; as well as explore and engage with their environment.”

Children’s relationships affect their development. This is because relationships create important experiences that teach her what’s around her and shape the way she sees the world. A child’s most important relationship is with her parents. Relationships with other family members, carers, including educators, and other children, are also very important. A child forms her world through these important relationships.

Wendy Goh
Wendy Goh, Scientific and Nutrition Manager of Fonterra Brands Malaysia Sdn Bhd says that’s where Anmum Essential Gold can help. “Anmum Essential Gold is fortified to support the overall growth and development of Generation Alpha. Children need energy for their daily activities and interactions as part of social development. MFGM, or milk fat globule membrane, is key – scientific study has shown the improvement of emotional and behavioral regulation in children supplemented with MFGM1.”

Along with these social and emotional benefits, Anmum Essential Gold contains nutrients including Vitamin A to support the eye function. In the Anmum Essential survey, seven out of ten mums admitted they did not bring their children for vision examinations despite agreeing eye development is important.

“Vision problems, if left unchecked, can cause difficulties in fine motor coordination, dexterity and manipulation; depth perception, which impact ability to move on uneven surfaces, stairs and climbing heights; and developing literacy and numeracy skills that can result in attention problems and learning disabilities,” says Dr. Rajini.

She also noted that being born into a digitised world, Generation Alpha are often exposed to on-screen activities through smart devices, and this increased screen time may be detrimental to children’s vision.

Other than physical, social and emotional development, a child also needs balanced nutrition to build a strong mind and body in order to excel later in life.

Dr Yong Junina
Dr. Yong Junina Fadzil, Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Cardiologist of Pakar Kanak-Kanak Junina agrees that a child’s holistic development cannot take a backseat as parents focus on brain growth and learning development.

“In this aspect, his gut health is important as the gut is the gateway to good nutrient absorption as well as bacteria or virus that cause illness,” she says.

“The gut is home to 70% of the body’s immune system. If your child’s gut is not a strong barrier, they will be more likely to pick up nasty bugs which can lead to illness. By supporting the growth of good bacteria in your child’s gut, you can help build their immunity and keep them feeling energetic and not miss out on classes and socialising with peers!” adds Dr. Yong Junina.

Wendy Goh explains, “a good intestinal environment is essential for effective nutrient absorption. This is where, prebiotics in new Anmum ESSENTIAL GOLD come in, helping to promote the growth of good bacteria and good gut environment”.

Your child’s holistic development starts with good nutrition! New Anmum ESSENTIAL GOLD Step 3 is suitable for children aged 1 to 6 years old. It is now retailing at major supermarkets nationwide and e-commerce platforms, with the recommended retail pricing of RM44.90 for 550g and RM86.90 for 1.1kg.

Gearing up for that big road trip? Follow these tips to ensure a smooth ride on the road

With Hari Raya Aidiladha coming up and interstate travel made possible again, going back to our hometown or taking a short blissful holiday with your family and loved ones is something exciting to look forward to. But before you start your journey to Balik Kampung or your much-anticipated road trip, here are a few tips to prepare yourself for a long drive on the road:
Maintain your vehicle regularly
While regular servicing helps improve your safety and others on the road, it also saves you from preventable excessive repair cost. Therefore, it’s important to send your vehicle in for maintenance based on the stipulated time set by your mechanic. Be sure to maintain these parts of your car to ensure that it is in good condition before going for a long drive.

  • Check both internal and external parts of the engine.
  • Change the battery every 3-5 years and wiper blades every 6-12 months. Inspect vehicle oil and coolant fluids regularly and keep them at optimum levels.
  • Ensure that the cooling system and radiator are regularly cleaned.

Protect your hands with the 3M™ ComfortGrip Gloves

Check the air pressure in your tyre
Always check your vehicle’s tyre pressure before heading out on a long trip or when carrying extra load. Improper inflation pressure on your vehicle’s tyres can be dangerous and may cause tyre damage. Additionally, it will also affect the handling of your vehicle and its fuel efficiency. It’s also good to take a couple of minutes before your trip to thoroughly inspect for any cuts, cracks splits or bruises in the tread and sidewall area of the tyres. Don’t forget to also check your spare tyre (if you don’t have one, this would be a good time to invest in one) and ensure that it’s well-kept and regularly maintained in case you need it.

Prepare for a flat tyre. (Just in case)
Changing a flat tyre is not as difficult as you think, and it is definitely a skill that every driver should be familiar with. Additionally, it’s always a safe idea to be equipped with a tyre changing tool kit. You wouldn’t want to be stranded on a highway with a flat tyre and no tools. Here are some of the things that should be in your tyre changing tool kit:

  • A spare tyre
  • A jack
  • A wheel wrench with extension bar
  • A locking wheel-nut adapter (if appropriate)
  • A good pair of gloves like the 3M™ Comfort Grip Gloves that offers protection and dexterity.

Prevent your car from rust buildups with the 3M™ Anti Rust Lubricant AR-100

Prevent rust buildup.
For a smooth journey, you’d want to ensure your vehicle is working efficiently. Rust buildups can ruin both, the interior and exterior of your car. Significant corrosions in the engine or the brake mechanism for instance, can cause a damaging problem.

Although most of us often mistakenly think that rust damages aren’t repairable, it’s actually a myth. Using a product with dehumidification and anti-corrosion properties like the 3M™ Anti-Rust Lubricant AR-100 can help clean, lubricate and protect your car from rust. Additionally, the product’s close to neutral pH level of 7.1 will not damage the metal surfaces in your car. All you have to do is shake it well and spray directly and generously to cover the corroded areas.

3M™ Cool Arm Sleeves helps reduce sunburn and prevents chafing with skin.

Drive comfortably.
In a tropical country like Malaysia, we experience hot weather all year round. Driving in the heat can be an uncomfortable experience, especially when you are driving a longer distance. Stay cool and comfortable if your journey on the road will be exceeding two hours. Wear loose clothing with a breathable fabric. If you are driving out on a sunny day and are worried about getting a sun burn, protect your arms with 3M™ Cool Arm Sleeves which utilizes aqua-X technology, the world's first cool-to-touch functional fiber. It’s designed to help your arms feel cooler immediately upon wearing it and offers SPF 50+, which protects you from UVB rays. This product also features seamless soft banding which minimizes chafing with skin and prevents it from slipping while providing a comfortable fit.

Take frequent breaks.
Driving takes a lot of concentration. Being in the car for hours on end can be really tiring so, the best thing to do is to take breaks regularly. Especially if you’re driving alone, it’s advisable to stop for at least 15-20 minutes every couple of hours and stretch your back and legs to avoid your muscles from getting fatigued. A few minutes of light stretching will also make you feel rejuvenated for the journey ahead. Use the break to also refuel with a light snack and beverage, top up your Touch n’ go card, adjust your GPS and run a quick car check to ensure that everything is working smoothly.

Watch out for road hazards and drive responsibly.
Lastly, keep your eyes peeled and watch out for any road hazards. With access to technology and a powerful satellite system, we are now privy to live traffic and roadblock updates. If the road ahead reports of hazards, wait it out at an R&R rather than being stuck for long hours on the road. Also remember to drive socially by keeping well under the speed limit and following high-way rules so that you and everyone around can have a safe and happy journey.

Road trips are always fun but, we also should not forget to stay safe and be prepared on the road. Wishing you a safe journey ahead for your next road trip!

Heading Back to the Office in the New Normal

It is physically and mentally taxing to be stuck at home for a long period of time. As we enter the next phase of the new normal, many offices and businesses have reopened in Malaysia. Most are excited to be back in the office for a change of scene, but not without health concerns on their mind. Today’s workplace environment is looking vastly different from how it used to be – you won’t be able to sit next to your colleagues and share Pringles with them while working or tap them on their shoulders to ask a question.

With people back at work, offices are now more cautious than ever of the social hygiene regulations to ensure everyone’s health and wellbeing. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), concentrations of some pollutants tend to be two to five times higher than typical outdoor concentrations. Hence, the ventilation and air quality in the office are all the more important now.

Indoor air should always be ventilated, be it through open windows or an air-conditioning unit that brings in air from the outside. But, did you know that an efficient Heat, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) System can do it all? A HVAC system’s goal is to provide temperature comfort and acceptable indoor air quality in an office or any indoor space. Offices often depend on their HVAC System to circulate and regulate air quality. Besides addressing health concerns, the right HVAC System can be beneficial in many other ways.

Say Hello to a Healthy and Energy-efficient Work Environment!
Living in Malaysia, we are constantly battling heat, high humidity, and moisture in the air. More often than not, they will seep into a workspace or an office. High humidity levels in the office could contribute to the growth and spread of unhealthy biological pollutants. Low humidity levels, on the other hand, may contribute to irritated mucous membranes, dry eyes, and sinus discomfort. Similarly, if the surrounding is too hot, too cold or goes through fluctuations in temperature, it causes discomfort and sometimes sickness.

Take LG’s Multi V 5 air solution as an example. It is equipped a Dual Sensing Control that senses both humidity and temperature for economical and comfortable operations. It also measures both temperature and humidity levels for outdoor and indoor environments. This in-depth understanding of multiple climate conditions helps to determine the parameters to achieve a healthy working environment and optimal energy efficiency. With the right HVAC system, no one has to be worried about getting sick in the office AND it saves energy. Talk about a two for one deal!

Happy Employees = Good Business Performance
The average Malaysian spends at least eight hours a day working and breathing air in their office. With the amount of time spent in the office, it is important for workplaces to provide a comfortable environment that ensures employees’ physical comfort and happiness through quality indoor air. In a 2015 study by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and United Technologies Climate, Controls & Security, it is found that there is a strong link between productivity and indoor air quality in the office. [1] This is especially important for people with allergies and sinuses. Imagine sneezing through projects and proposals or having difficulty in breathing when trying to tackle a complex matter. This would definitely slow down productivity and bum anyone out. No one wants to be the sneeze factory of the office.

Products like LG’s Multi V air handling unit (AHU) delivers ventilation with cooling and heating and maintains a constant CO2 concentration, providing a pleasant indoor air circulation. LG has also rolled out the Multi V Dual Vane 4 Way Cassette, which helps adjust the temperature of both direct and indirect wind, creating a comfortable and efficient working environment. Plus, the cassette has an air purifying system that captures 99 percent of ultrafine particles. Dusts will not stand a chance.

Furthermore, the LG Multi V AHU doesn’t just provide a comfortable workspace, it also reduces energy usage with its energy saving air control for all climatic needs. The Multi V AHU has the combined unique technology of the AHU and Multi V that provides cooling, heating and free cooling operations for energy reduction via air control throughout external and internal environments for all seasons. Not only does the Multi V AHU keep employees’ healthy, it also contributes to the wellbeing of the environment that we should be aware of.

An Investment in the Long Run
A HVAC System, in general, is a worthy, long-term investment for any businesses or offices. HVAC Systems today are automated, which means you no longer have to manually adjust temperature or humidity settings. It saves time and energy since any drop or rise in temperature will result in proper adjustments. That way no energy is wasted. Additionally, it does keep employees happy, healthy and increase their productivity when they are working in a well-ventilated place with optimal temperature.

Fasa Pemulihan Pasca COVID-19 Industri Pelancongan Di Negeri Selangor

Pemberian Baucar Pelancongan Dan Insentif Pemandu Pelancong Berjumlah RM 2.6 Juta Bukti Kerajaan Negeri Selangor Komited Dalam Membangunkan Semula Industri Pelancongan Negeri

“Reset Tourism”
Kerajaan Negeri Selangor melalui Badan Promosi Pelancongan Rasmi, Tourism Selangor sedang mempergiatkan usaha membangunkan semula industri pelancongan Negeri pasca Covid-19 dengan visi “Reset Tourism”.

R7 – THE RADIOGRAM REDEFINED
Before the advent of hi-fi systems in the 1970s, the radiogram – a radio and record player combined into one – was the desired music system of choice. It was often made of polished wood to match the furniture of its time. The R7 carries on the radiogram’s legacy of providing a wide variety of connectivity options, while also doubling up as a beautiful piece of modern furniture for the home.

Powered by two Ruark Audio dual concentric drivers together with a downward firing subwoofer, together with a well-integrated class A-B amplifier, the versatile R7 makes the listening experience more realistic and enjoyable. This adaptable system provides access to a vast range of music choices from radio stations to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi streaming. True to its radiogram spirit, it also contains a slot-loading CD player for CD enthusiasts. The R7 can be easily operated with Ruark’s trademark Rotodial remote, which does not need to be aimed at the system to control it.

The R7 was designed to be a timeless statement piece in a room, with its exquisite hand- crafted wood cabinet, contemporary acoustic fabric and clear glass front panel.
