HONOR 50 Lite: In depth Review

HONOR recently unveiled a new HONOR 50 Lite smartphone in late November 2021, with good specifications aimed at middle-class consumers. The Honor 50 series is known for producing exceptional products, and this phone is no exception.

Of course, you won't be receiving the fundamental features you see in Honor 50 since it's a LITE version. However, it's worth noting that the Honor 50 Lite still packs a punch despite cost-cutting in some areas. Here is an in-depth look at the Honor 50 Lite smartphone to get things started.

HONOR 50 LITE FEATURES
First, let's take a look at its battery capacity, which has a total of 4,300 mAh and a 66W load using HONOR SuperCharge technology. A 40 per cent charge in 10 minutes and a 100 per cent charge in 39 minutes. This product's quality and charging speed, HONOR, ensure that you may use it all day without having to charge it. But the battery isn't the only feature that sets this phone apart; it also features a very narrow bezel of 1.05 mm, resulting in a 94.4 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

The HONOR 50 Lite is a lighter version of the HONOR 50. It has a quad-camera with a 64-megapixel main lens, an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens, and a 2-megapixel depth lens, as well as a 16-megapixel front camera. As is common in this range, the macro lens allows you to capture small photographs with a rather sharp focus.

HONOR 50 Lite incorporates the TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light certification, which minimises the amount of blue light that is hazardous to the eyes, in addition to the cameras and rapid charging.

The design is slightly different from what you'd see on a typical Honor phone. The phone has a circular camera cutout. In addition, the phone has a dual gleaming body texture with strips running across the middle. It is made of aluminium along with the frame. The rear plastic has attractive finishes and inserted four cameras into the circular frame.

The screen is bright, and text is legible, and the bezels around the screen are quite thin. A small selfie camera notch is located near the top right corner of the screen, and it appears to be kept out of the way to give you as much screen real estate as possible.

The colour reproduction in media playback is also quite good, with YouTube videos and even Netflix looking fantastic. Although the sound quality could be better, it's not out of place in a mid-range handset market. Just don't expect this device to produce glorious sound.

It employs the Magic UI 4.2, which is a fairly user-friendly interface. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor powers the phone with 6GB RAM. The 128GB of storage is adequate, though this is quickly becoming the standard for mobile devices. The camera, however, is the star of the show, as it has four separate snappers, each of which does something different. A 64-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth camera are located clockwise around the device.

The third camera is a 2-megapixel macro lens, and the fourth is a 17mm 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with a focal length of 17mm. Except for the main camera, which has an f/1.9 aperture, all sensors have an f/2.4 aperture. As a result, the image quality is adequate for social media posting.

However, having a dedicated macro lens is extremely beneficial, as these images look quite good. So if you're a macro photographer, this is the place for you. The colours, on the other hand, are very muted, so get a copy of Snapseed to boost the vibrance and saturation.

The camera modes are comparable to those found on other phones, with a Pro mode for manually changing settings and panorama, slow motion, timelapse, and other features. Unfortunately, the HDR mode isn't great at all, and it has a hard time exposing for low light levels and blown-out highlights, such as the scene in my studio, where the window was still blown out.

The portrait mode was nice, but the subject and background separation weren't great, and I've seen better from mid-range handsets. There's an aperture mode that drops it to f/0.95, but it looks fake and doesn't produce a super sharp image, and the focus is extremely dependent on where you tap on your subject. When you tap their face, everything else fades out of focus. For their next set of handsets, it will undoubtedly require some refinement.

The battery life is another plus that puts it on par with some of the best flagship phones on the market. What's exciting about it is that it has a 4300 mAh battery with a 66-watt fast charge capability. The phone easily lasted me the entire day, and I work in social media for a living, so my phone usage is among the highest in the world, and the phone lasted me the entire day.

I did need to charge when I got home, but I never felt compelled to carry a charger in my bag to plug in when I got to work. On this mid-range handset, it's just a nice touch.

Despite its shortcomings with the camera, the Honor 50 Lite can be considered a great smartphone. It's certainly fast enough to handle all of your daily needs, including social media. The screen is excellent and produces some nice images for media playback on YouTube or through on-demand apps, and the phone itself is quite attractive.

With this recipe, I hope to reintroduce healthy, nutritious traditional cuisine especially to young Malaysians.”

Amway Malaysia: Taking Protein Consumption On A Serious Note

Dietitian advises the need for strong and healthy body to live consciously during endemic

Protein is a vital part of every diet as it fuels energy. It is an important macronutrient that every cell in the body requires. The need to maintain good health while boosting the body's natural defences are top priorities for people to observe in their dietary habits. It is crucial to practise consumption of adequate protein in an effort to remain healthy in current times. People have begun to place emphasis on living healthy.

A study conducted by the Ministry of Health highlighted the average protein intake among Malaysians at 57g is lower than the recommended intake by the World Health Organisation at 83g per day.[1] The deficiency of protein can increase the risk of skin, hair and nail problems, bone fractures, loss of muscle and infection.

Health and wellness company, Amway Malaysia strongly believes in the importance of protein, the need to strengthen the body's defence system and observing healthy lifestyle. Amway Malaysia aims to raise awareness on the need to improve the intake of protein to remain healthy and strong while the nation transitions to an endemic stage.

Recently, the company also revealed that 7 in 10 Malaysians started consciously living healthy and are concerned about the source they consume either as they eat, drink and ingest. The Amway Global Consumer Survey conducted among 1,000 Malaysians, highlighted they are making positive changes after the pandemic, such as diet (53%), fitness routines (55%), multivitamins or other supplements (56%) and personal care (45%). It was highlighted that Malaysian consumers (74%) look at traceability as an important factor when making the decision to purchase health and wellness products.

The findings reflect that Malaysians are being careful about what they consume in an effort to stay healthy and have a safe lifestyle, more so following the pandemic. The need to know the source of the product has a significant impact on consumers’ trust in the company.

Indra Balaratnam
Indra Balaratnam, a dietitian said, “We observe that people have begun to live beyond the pandemic by self-learning about nutrient knowledge as they realise that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important. People always recognise protein as the supplement of muscle builder accompanied by exercise, and neglect its function on repairing the body tissue, maintaining existing muscle mass and boosting energy.

“Protein is crucial to good health. The benefits are linked together towards body development, metabolism, repair, fluid balance, and immune health,” she explained.

“In order to have sufficient intake, you can easily consume food such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, seeds, nuts and beans. It is also advisable to take protein powder as a dietary supplement to fulfil the deficiency. This would depend on your body’s needs.” she advised.

She added that people should stay vigilant even though Malaysia is gradually reaching its fully vaccinated rate coupled with the lifting of the travel restrictions as it is vital to ensure a healthy and stronger body condition. Failing which, the effort of living consciously with positive changes will be futile.

Although Malaysians are shifting their living habits towards a more mindful lifestyle, they seem to be struggling to balance their intake of nutrients given the rich and diverse food available.

Mike Duong, Managing Director of Amway Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei commented, “We should always identify our body's needs while practising a consciously living lifestyle to ensure that we are getting the right nutrients. As a firm believer in the adage, prevention is better than cure. We at Amway are committed to empowering the public with the right knowledge on health and wellness for them to make wise decisions in relation to their health and have a well-balanced lifestyle.

“We are driven to help people live better lives and make positive changes. Armed with the right information, the desire to take positive steps and access to Protein Supplements brands such as Nutrilite™, the world’s #1 selling protein supplements brand,[2] consumers can be assured of consuming pure, safe and effective products to fulfill their protein intake. These products are grown, harvested and processed on Amway’s certified organic farms. Together, we can create a healthy society and rebuild a stronger nation,” concluded Mike Duong.

To further enhance the understanding of protein and the importance of having a strong body defence system, Amway is currently conducting a campaign collaborating with healthcare professionals, dieticians, social influencers to share their expertise and insight on encouraging the right consumption of protein per day. Amway will be hosting a virtual session known as “Start Your Day Right with A Healthier Drink” in December on Amway’s Malaysia Facebook page which will be deliberated by a panel of experts namely, nutritionist, fitness instructor and dietitian.

KidZania Kuala Lumpur Set to Bring More Unique Experiences to Families

Improved facilities under new ownership includes representation of A&W, Subway, and Jamaica Blue Coffee through newly-formed industry partnership

Presentation of Key To The City

With the year-end school holidays just a couple of weeks away, plans for family getaways and recreation are undoubtedly in full swing. Leisure and recreational attractions are gearing up to enthral eager visitors with some much-deserved family entertainment and revelry.

One of them is KidZania Kuala Lumpur (“KidZania”), which has amassed strong affinity over the years from children and their parents for its unique edutainment offering, combining learning and entertainment in a 80,000-square-feet scaled replica of a real functioning city with over 40 role-playing activities for kids, where they can learn about jobs, money, and the real world while developing all-important life skills that simply cannot be taught in the classroom. This interactive form of learning, which creatively blends reality and entertainment has over the years proved to be a hit throughout the world.

Last year, world-renowned Sim Leisure Group acquired the license to operate the KidZania franchise in Malaysia and has since then worked on significantly improving the attraction’s facilities. Under the new ownership and management, one of the major enhancements undertaken was fully digitalising the facility’s ticketing system for greater efficiency and control, as well as beefing up customer service in order to serve visitors better and stay relevant to an increasingly astute base of customers.

In its latest development of its offering and facilities, KidZania has forged a partnership with Inter Mark Resources Sdn. Bhd., which will see the inclusion of three industry partners to further enhance visitors’ experience – A&W, Subway, and Jamaica Blue Coffee.

The partnership was officiated in a formal ceremony at KidZania, which was attended by Sim Choo Kheng, Founder and CEO of Sim Leisure Group, and George Ang, Founder and Group CEO of Inter Mark Resources Sdn. Bhd. During the ceremony, Sim presented Ang with the “Key To The City”, a symbolic gesture of welcoming the three new brands to KidZania.

Silviya Georgieva Governor of
KidZania Kuala Lumpur
“It gives me great pleasure to formally introduce and welcome A&W, Subway and Jamaica Blue Coffee to KidZania, which will certainly enhance the many offerings to all our visitors – both children and their parents alike. These are well-known brands, which Malaysians have fondly grown to love in so many ways. I am confident that their representation at KidZania will take this unique establishment to greater heights. In this regard, I would like to personally thank George and the team from Inter Mark Resources for their unwavering support and facilitation in making this partnership a reality,” said Sim.

He also highlighted that KidZania is finalising similar industry partnerships with other major brands and organisations, which will be announced in due course.

With the addition of A&W and Subway, children will be able to gain hands-on experience in operating and managing a fast-food outlet. Meanwhile, their parents can enjoy their favourite cuppa and refreshments at the Jamaica Blue Coffee outlet located at the Parents’ Lounge, where they can sit back and relax while their children frolic, play, and learn through the numerous activities and engagements at KidZania.

“Our decision to be part of KidZania was not a difficult one to make. We realise the huge benefit KidZania offers to children to discover and learn while having tons fun in the process. We believe that the inclusion of A&W, Subway, and Jamaica Blue Coffee at KidZania will add significant value to visitors’ experience. Just imagine the fun kids will have by creating their own Coney and pouring their own glass of root beer at A&W; or constructing their own Subway sandwich, before savouring the delicious works of their hands! All this while their parents enjoy their own R&R at the Parents’ Lounge with the very best coffee and snacks using fresh and premium ingredients at Jamaica Blue Coffee,” said Ang.

“We are committed to making this a mutually-beneficial partnership with KidZania, and look forward to the long-term prospects of developing our association, even with the possibility of introducing other brands at KidZania in the near future,” he added.

A&W Kids' roleplay activity

True to its ‘Learn Life Today’ philosophy, the “new” KidZania aims to continue advocating hands-on interactive experiences and opportunities for children to learn new skills, while celebrating and harnessing their potential by combining inspiration, fun, and learning through realistic role play.

Through this, we are also able to reduce food waste and help ease and lessen the cost of living of the underprivileged Malaysians. Xiaomi is the first consumer tech company we’ve partnered with, and we are thankful for their time and effort in preparing for this contribution to support the local communities in need. You can even make the whole world disappear as you enjoy your game and shows when you put on the Galaxy Buds2, pairing them with your Galaxy Z Fold3 5G for a much more immersive feel. The Active Noise Cancelling feature on Galaxy Buds2 will tune out the unwanted background noise so you can concentrate on your ‘me-time’ without distractions.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G promises the new ultimate entertainment experience in a single, powerful device, and it is made better with Galaxy Buds2. So go ahead and grab those gold medals because when you have the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G in your hands, you’ve already won first place.

Kerajaan Cakna Keluhan Pengguna, 5G Berkualiti Untuk Penggunaan Mampan Pakej Keluarga Malaysia

Encik Mohamad Yusrizal Dato' Hj. Yusoff

Retail and Fast-Food sectors driving growth for GapMaps in Malaysia

Brands monitoring pedestrian activity in post-COVID times to better understand and plan for physical locations

GapMaps, the Australian cloud-based mapping software specialist helping organisations with network strategies and location intelligence planning, continues to expand its international presence, which now extends to 21 countries including Malaysia.

Despite COVID-19, the retail sector has adapted to new customer demand patterns and built new channels to market. In Malaysia, GapMaps has seen strong growth in the fast-food delivery channel, which is creating demand for data and insights that enable retailers to better plan for and capture the potential of this growing market.

“Since 2018, we’ve been adding five new markets each year and double-digit revenue growth year-on-year,” says Anthony Villanti, GapMaps Managing Director and Founder.

“This growth is due to the ease-of-use and sophistication of our mapping software, which uses the very latest demographic, government and industry data to help clients choose the right physical location specific to their business needs.”

“Today, we have approximately 500 brands using GapMaps in sectors where a physical location is required, such as fitness, fuel, grocery, quick service restaurants, shopping centres and convenience stores,” adds Villanti.

Tim Shaw
Tim Shaw, GapMap’s Director, Market Planning, says, “Many of our Australian customers, especially the global brands, have encouraged us to enter new markets so they can use GapMaps overseas. This contributes to decisions on where we expanded the business.”

As Malaysia emerges from COVID-19 restrictions GapMaps is observing and monitoring increases in pedestrian activity in central areas, shopping malls and other retail precincts.

“What’s been interesting is the variability in the COVID-19 recovery process,” adds Shaw. “We expected to see variability between countries due to different lockdown restrictions and when those were loosened or removed. However, we see significant variation in the pace of recovery between large and small shopping malls and central precincts, an inconsistency observed across large urban centres when compared with smaller urban and regional centres.

“The ability for brands to access these insights means they can more effectively manage their physical store networks through the recovery and plan for what’s increasingly looking like a ‘new normal’ in a post-pandemic world.”

GapMap’s clients contributing to international growth include brands like Domino’s, KFC, Starbucks, Burger King, Subway and McDonalds. Eat’n’Go, the franchisee for Domino’s, Cold Stone and Pinkberry in Kenya and Nigeria, all benefitting from the data insights GapMaps provides.

“GapMaps has a unique ability to create high quality location intelligence data and insights in some very data-challenged countries,” says Pat McMichael, Group Managing Director and CEO, Eat'n'Go.

“The quality of their data and simple to use platform has enabled me to introduce world class market and network planning processes to businesses where network planning had previously been quite rudimentary.”

Growth Strategy
“Additionally, where GapMaps sees significant growth opportunity, we back ourselves and proactively enter a market and build a local client base,” adds Shaw. “This combination has proven to be a good growth strategy for the business.

“In Malaysia and other South-East Asia countries, quick service restaurants are one of the fastest growing sectors. Although population growth has slowed down in recent years, the consuming class growth can be up to four times that rate, which is driving store and shopping precinct investments from global brands.”

Access to demographic data in some markets has traditionally been challenging, with a reliance on census data that can be more than a decade old. That data is often too broad and not appropriate for local catchment analysis to support a location decision.

“With GapMaps we can analyse different local demographic, industry and government data to provide insights at a granular level, often drilling down to a 100 - 250 metre grid to pinpoint an optimum store catchment,” says Shaw. “That gives customers the same market planning processes and experience they use in Australia.”

Sector Expansion
“Aside from retail, GapMaps will expand into some of its other key sectors already supported in Australia like aged care, medical and health, as data in these international countries becomes more accessible,” adds Shaw. “For now, in Malaysia, our focus is on retail and food delivery, which is where we can add immediate value to our clients.”

“Although the pandemic has impacted retail categories like food and hospitality, it has created an environment where global and local brands are using the time to reset, rethink and reassess their network planning strategies and physical location decisions, in preparation for post-lockdown.”

A GapMaps Advisory team has also been established to support customers in all markets. This team, which is the same people who built the GapMaps platform, provide consulting services, in-depth data analysis and research to help clients with new insights, strategies, and business plans.
