Malaysian Creators Celebrate Sports at the First Local TikTok ClubHouse

For many sports fans, TikTok has become more than just a place to catch highlights, follow their favourite athletes or watch entertaining videos. It is also a platform where people discover new interests, connect with fellow enthusiasts and learn more about the sports they love.

Taking that experience beyond the screen, TikTok recently introduced its first-ever TikTok ClubHouse in Malaysia, bringing local content creators closer to the excitement of a race weekend while giving them an opportunity to experience the world of motorsport firsthand.

The initiative marked the first time TikTok brought its ClubHouse experience to Malaysia, combining sports, content creation and community engagement through a series of immersive activities.

Rather than simply watching the action, participating creators had the opportunity to connect with people who share their interests, gain insights into motorsport and discover what happens beyond the race itself.

Bringing TikTok's Sports Community Together Offline

While TikTok is widely recognised for its short-form videos and viral trends, sports content has also become an important part of how Malaysian users engage with the platform.

According to a survey conducted by Kearney involving nearly 1,000 Malaysians who use TikTok weekly, sports ranked among the platform's top 10 most-engaged content categories in Malaysia.

The study also found that 79% of respondents use TikTok to discover hobbies, suggesting that the platform plays a role not only in entertainment but also in introducing users to new interests and activities.

Building on that interest, TikTok ClubHouse was designed to give creators an opportunity to experience sports in a more personal and interactive setting.

By bringing creators together during the race weekend, TikTok aimed to encourage conversations, strengthen connections within its community and inspire people to explore more active lifestyles.

Nikhil Rolla, Malaysia General Manager of Global Business Solutions at TikTok, explained the thinking behind the initiative.

"The recent TikTok ClubHouse experience empowered our creators to connect with a community that shared their passion for sports. We hope that through this opportunity, creators can spark meaningful conversations beyond the screen and inspire more active lifestyles among the local community."

Malaysian Motorsport Legend Alex Yoong Shares His Experience

One of the highlights of TikTok ClubHouse was the opportunity for participating creators to meet and engage with Alex Yoong, one of Malaysia's most recognisable motorsport personalities.

For fans, watching a race often means focusing on the speed, competition and excitement happening on the track. However, there is much more to motorsport than the action seen during a race.

Behind every performance are countless hours of preparation, teamwork, technical understanding and discipline.

Through his interaction with creators, Alex offered insights into these aspects of motorsport, helping participants gain a deeper appreciation of what goes into the sport.

"Motorsport is about much more than what happens on race day. Tremendous preparation, discipline, and teamwork go into every moment on the track. It was encouraging to see Malaysian TikTok creators soaking up the sport firsthand. When we make sports accessible and relatable, we can inspire more people to be active," said Alex.

His message also reflected one of the broader objectives of the ClubHouse experience: making sports feel more accessible to people who may initially know them only through social media or television.

By hearing directly from someone with experience in the sport, creators could better understand the dedication involved and share those perspectives with their own audiences.

Malaysian TikTok Creators Experience the Action Firsthand

The inaugural TikTok ClubHouse brought together a group of Malaysian creators from different backgrounds, united by their interest in sports, entertainment and content creation.

Among those who attended were @yang, @mikaelaqistina, @raphael.sli, @rasyiqahjohan, @malika.johan, @triiseya, @fruityfatty, @azfarherii and @leonsmeonss, alongside other creators.

For Mikaela Qistina, a Malaysian singer, TikTok creator and motorsport enthusiast, the experience offered an opportunity to understand the sport from a different perspective.

"Sport can be a gateway to discovering much more than competition. It teaches us about resilience, focus, and the passion to stay active in the sports you choose. This unforgettable TikTok ClubHouse experience gave me a deeper appreciation of everything that goes into the detail of the sport. I hope to inspire my community to look beyond just simply watching and find their own ways to stay active."

Her experience highlights how exposure to sports can encourage people to appreciate the effort, discipline and passion behind the competition, even if they do not participate professionally.

Turning Sports Fans Into Active Participants

Another participating creator, Dhabita Auji, shared a similar perspective on how sports can bring communities together.

As someone who has long been passionate about maintaining an active lifestyle, she believes that being a sports enthusiast can be the beginning of a more active journey.

"Sport brings Malaysians of every background together. You don't have to be an athlete to belong in it. Being a fan is often the first step towards getting active yourself. When we share our passion for sports, we can inspire spectators to become participants."

It is a reminder that enjoying sports does not necessarily mean having to compete at a professional level or possess exceptional athletic ability.

For some people, that first step might involve joining a recreational sports group, trying a new physical activity or simply becoming more interested in the sports they already follow online.

Content creators can play a role in encouraging that participation by sharing relatable experiences and making unfamiliar activities feel more approachable to their audiences.

Connecting Digital Communities With Real-World Experiences

TikTok ClubHouse reflects how social media platforms are increasingly exploring ways to connect online communities with experiences beyond their screens.

While videos can introduce viewers to a sport, meeting athletes, interacting with fellow enthusiasts and experiencing an event firsthand can provide a different level of understanding and appreciation.

For participating creators, the ClubHouse offered an opportunity to build connections, gain new perspectives and bring fresh sports-related stories back to their followers.

For audiences, those experiences can make sports content more engaging and relatable, particularly when shared through creators they already follow.

With its first TikTok ClubHouse in Malaysia, the platform has demonstrated how digital discovery and real-world participation can complement each other.

Whether someone is a lifelong motorsport enthusiast or has only recently discovered an interest in racing, the initiative reinforces the idea that a shared passion for sports can bring people together and potentially inspire them to explore new activities beyond simply watching from the sidelines.
