The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Galaxy Z Flip3 5G reported to be flying off the shelves even faster than the past Galaxy Z Fold2’s preorders of 80,000 units – 2 times of Galaxy S21 and 1.5 times of Galaxy Note20.

Bersama Dengan Semangat #KitaJagaKita

Made possible due to its Malaysian made e-Commerce Fulfilment System

Malaysian Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) brand Signature Market has successfully established Malaysia’s first FMCG Direct to Consumer fulfillment hub, which handles 100% of its orders in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, namely grocery products. The hub currently occupies a total area across 22,800 sq ft with an expansion of 7,200 sq ft which will be ready by end of the year designed to cater to delivery within the next day if the order is placed before noon.

Signature Market is capable of fulfilling thousands of orders per day and facilitating the movement through its warehousing facilities to last-mile delivery fleets while ensuring excellent customer service even during the current national lockdown period.

The brand, well known for its healthful options for overall wellbeing has grown tremendously since its inception in 2014. It started off with just having 50 to 100 orders a day and is managing their fulfillment manually in a terrace house. Today Signature Market has their own fulfillment hub that is able to process 6,000 parcels a day with an average basket size of 16 items.

Back in 2018, it took between 10 to 12 days for the delivery. Furthermore, picking and packing of wrong items were an issue that registered a high error of 3%. With the establishment of its own fulfillment center, the number of shipment days have been further reduced to approximately 24 hours especially for those who place their orders before noon. The error rate was also reduced to 0.25%, hence improving productivity and customer satisfaction.

“We developed an integrated stock management and fulfillment system through our own in-house IT team that caters to our operations. It enables us to ensure seamless and fast deliveries to customers while offering excellent service. Our next-day delivery improved with an average of 37% of our customers receiving their parcels the following day. As for our pick and packing process, we target to achieve a 0% error rate by the end of this year and we are confident that we will be able to meet the target with our new IT infrastructures being in place,” added Edwin Wang, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Signature Market.

Currently, the eCommerce Fulfillment Centre is processing 3,500 parcels a day, pick and packing over 50,000 items per day. Having premium products, coupled with seamless online shopping experience, Signature Market has been able to achieve a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 85.3% which is a strong indication of its excellent service. The team is committed to further improve its customer satisfaction through various innovative measures.

As Signature Market is in the groceries category of products, it guarantees the freshness and quality of the products are being maintained at all time by having a stringent quality control and stock sales estimation system that enables the production team to phase out the production and ensure sufficient stock.

“Our achievement to date is indeed a huge milestone for us and this is due to the immense support of our valuable customers. With our 64th Merdeka Day around the corner, it is truly something to reflect upon on how far we have progressed as a nation and the evolution of technology that has enabled us to leverage on it. It has contributed to the growth of our business and uplifted the lifestyle of many Malaysians. Our current goal is to export the business model with our Malaysian-made technology system and share the teaching of living consciously in Asia, which will touch the lives of many abundantly” concluded Wang.

Enjoy Ayam Brand Baked Beans All Day In So Many Delicious Ways
Ayam Brand™ Baked Beans are ready-to-eat. The easiest way to enjoy them is to simply open the pull tab and dig in with a clean spoon. While we usually associate baked beans with an English breakfast complete with eggs, sausage, and toast, it is versatile and works with many different cuisines. Ayam Brand has developed numerous recipes to showcase baked beans paired with bread, pasta, potatoes and rice as breakfast, lunch, snack time and dinner.

Breakfast : Kacang Pool with Buttered Toast

Up your breakfast game with Kacang Pool, a Johor delicacy. The traditional method of preparation is time consuming as it involves soaking and boiling the beans. Use Ayam Brand Baked Beans and your kacang pool can be ready in 15 minutes or less. Here’s how: mash the baked beans and tomato sauce with the back of a fork aiming for a chunky texture. In a pan, heat up some ghee and add one diced red onion, and minced meat or chicken stirring until fragrant. Top with cili padi and curry powder before adding the mashed baked beans and mixing well. Serve with sunny side up egg, half a lime and a sprinkling of cili padi. Dip buttered toast into this hearty gravy.

Lunch : Pasta with Baked beans Sauce

Running out of pasta sauce? Try this simple baked beans pasta sauce hack and be amazed. Get your pasta sauce base going by sautéing onion, garlic and minced meat or minced chicken, then add chopped tomatoes, one can of Ayam Brand baked beans, and some water before simmering to thicken the sauce. Place your cooked pasta into an oven-proof dish, pour on the pasta sauce, top with cheese and bake for 15 minutes until cheese is golden and melted.

Snack time: Jacket Potato Baked Beans

A baked potato is a good snack but top it with this sweet and savory tuna and baked beans sauce for a great treat. Scrub, wash and dry potatoes leaving the skin intact. Coat each potato with oil, wrap in aluminum foil and bake for 45 to 60 minutes. In a separate bowl mix tuna, lemon juice, mayonnaise and a sprinkling of black pepper. Remove potatoes from oven, Cut an X through the middle before adding butter, baked beans and the tuna mix into this space. Garnish with spring onion and avocado. And that’s how we do healthy, tasty, and fancy baked beans snacks.

Dinner: Baked Beans Sardine Curry with Rice

Dinner is the main meal for many of us, so make it hearty and well-balanced with this baked beans sardine curry with rice. Firstly, fry the eggplants and then set aside. Next fry some chili, garlic and ginger until fragrant before adding curry powder. Lightly mash the sardines and stir into the curry mixture. Add carrot and baked beans. Simmer on medium heat until the carrots are cooked. Add coconut milk and stir to thicken the sauce. Add the cooked eggplant and stir gently for an even mix. Serve piping with white rice.

Cyberview Sets Forth Innovation as the Normative Ideal for Business Growth and Resilience

Cyberview Sdn Bhd (Cyberview), the Tech Hub Developer of Cyberjaya hosted its third Tech Talk Webinar series for 2021 on how businesses can leverage innovation and R&D to navigate and prepare for the possibilities of an endemic. The panel discussion was themed, ‘The New Reality of an Endemic: Unlocking Post-Crisis Growth through Innovation’.

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted people’s lives in many ways, from adjustments across daily routines to companies pivoting their strategies to meet changing consumer demands. The race is now on for businesses to seize the opportunities that arise from transforming market landscapes. Further to this, leading health experts and the World Health Organisation (WHO) also shared their views on the likelihood of COVID-19 becoming an endemic. To unlock post crisis growth, companies require a prolific focus on innovation.

The panel session focused on the realities of the looming endemic and how businesses can gain long-term advantages through innovation and R&D to remain resilient. The panellists were Aizat Rahim, Business Director, Finnext Capital Sdn Bhd; Ammar Zolkipli, Partner, Itxotic Sdn Bhd; and Shafinaz Salim, Head of Technology Hub Development Division of Cyberview Sdn Bhd.

During the session, Shafinaz highlighted, “Businesses now need to pivot and scale rapidly. They need access to R&D&C to turn their business ideas into lucrative offers. Cyberjaya is well-positioned as a sandbox with its living lab capabilities and infrastructure that can facilitate R&D and innovation opportunities for businesses, including larger industries. The city’s thriving ecosystem also offers companies cross-collaboration opportunities between various technology areas like Smart Mobility, Smart Healthcare and Digital Creative for the creation of even more new possibilities.”

Aizat zoomed in on the digitalisation journey for companies, “Business strategies have changed substantially where companies now need to identify the fundamentals of their commerce to be able to adapt to the endemic. Digitalisation is now compulsory for businesses to stay afloat as we see industries across the spectrum observe and embrace this shift progressively. For traditional businesses, especially those with less constraints in terms of regulations are much quicker in adopting technologies and this shows that policies play a key role in enabling digital transformation.

“Before they move into analysing technology and innovation trends, companies must first strengthen their businesses continuity plans and look into cost-cutting measures as well as close monitoring of operational and revenue cycles. Essentially, businesses need to accommodate what their customers are looking for based on the industries they are fulfilling and ensure that digitalisation starts from within. One of the challenges among businesses is their hesitation in leveraging e-commerce and building their online presence. They need to be customer-centric to adapt and sustain their companies today.”

As a digital technology expert with vast experiences across global and regional companies, Ammar discussed the significance of digital application in industries such as manufacturing. He explained, “One of the biggest challenges for industrial operations is following restrictions and regulations. The adoption of technologies enables businesses to comply with SOPs as well as overcome other challenges that may rise from the shift in market demands. The rudiments of technology adoption include strong policies and long-term programmes to ensure local industries remain resilient in these changing times.”

As part of Cyberjaya’s new masterplan, Cyberview introduced a Collaboration Campus which is a designated area that will become the initial iteration of the development of the three technology clusters – smart mobility, smart healthcare and digital creative - in a single zone. The campus is unique as it is situated close to offices of key stakeholders such as the Cyberview HQ as well as Futurise – Cyberview’s subsidiary that oversees the National Regulatory Sandbox (NRS), and piloting facilities such as the Cyberjaya Malaysia Autonomous Vehicle (MyAV) Testing Route, the Drone Testing Zone and the 5G Open Lab for proof-of concept testing. This enables easy access and collaborative opportunities for businesses to scale up tech solutions throughout the entire life cycle right up to commercialisation.

The CoSpace Soft Landing Zone which is also a part of the campus is a crucial component serving as a new launchpad that is tailor made for startups, technology companies and ecosystem partners. The Zone serves as a temporary set-up for local businesses while they finalise their innovation strategies and long-term investment plans in Cyberjaya. It also offers ease of entry for foreign companies into Malaysia by allowing a faster, quicker, and convenient process for them to penetrate new markets within the country as well as the region.

5G+ will usher in the next big inversion for Malaysia’s physical industries

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to transform the way people in Malaysia live and work. As the nation gears up for the next normal, businesses are racing to reach, connect and engage with consumers more virtually. Sectors that were already innately digitally-focused – especially e-commerce – were able to lead the way in this transformation. In contrast, the pressure to transform was greater for physical industries like manufacturing, agriculture and ports, due in no small part to their asset-heavy nature and the pandemic influencing a drop in their economic activities.

As many physical industries only began accelerating digital transformation due to the pandemic, the time is now for them to harness Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies. With Malaysia boosting nationwide connectivity via the National Digital Infrastructure Plan (Jendela) and aiming to launch the 5G network by the end of 2021, the country’s physical industries must now look at investing in the future of industrial digitization via 5G+.

The next, crucial step after 5G
With 5G’s impending arrival in Malaysia, physical industries will need to do more than implementing foundational 5G networks to bridge the digital divide. Enterprises can no longer just have any 5G network infrastructure; they must also have one that enables the synchronization between enterprise ICT (information and communications technology) and industrial OT (operations technologies). Essentially, they must innovate both digital and physical systems, which would then work with each other to the organization’s benefit – this is what 5G+ entails.

Nevertheless, there are many factors behind industrial digital and physical systems and it can be a difficult task to determine which 5G+ approach to prioritize. Nokia Bell Labs identified a suite of ecosystem technology enablers that can power industrial 5G+ transformation: pervasive 5G networks, edge infrastructure and cloud platforms, augmented intelligence and machine learning systems, private networks, advanced sensor and robotics, end-to-end (E2E) security, and network-as-a-service business models.

SPE gains – the next gamechanger for physical industries
Physical industries seeking to reap the most rewards out of their digital transformation (and at speed and scale) with 5G and 5G+ enablers must complement them thoroughly via Safety, Productivity, and Efficiency (SPE) gains. These comprise:

Safety: the decrease in safety-related incidents. Industrial sites using AugI/ML – when merging it with intelligent video sensing – proactively enable the detection of accidents before they happen, improving both worker and equipment safety.

Productivity: the volume increase of goods or services generated from the same asset base. Through AugI/ML systems, a factory can improve its forecasting capabilities of specific market demands – enabling pre-emptive operations while shortening response times and taking full advantage of operational capacities.

Efficiency: the capacity to decrease the number of resources consumed for the same level of output. Here, advanced sensory technologies – especially those using video analytics powered by AugI/ML – can detect machine failures before they happen, thereby helping to limit unexpected disruptions in industrial sites.

Malaysia is poised for the next big inversion
Although ICT investments were expected to drop when the pandemic broke out, they have since rallied – due in no small part to government-led digitalization initiatives such as the MyDigital Blueprint. These efforts, along with the acceleration of 5G implementation by the end of 2021 and its eventual ascendance as the country’s connectivity backbone, mean that Malaysia has already arrived at the key inflection point for mass 5G+ adoption.

Already, we are seeing how physically dependent sectors are embracing 5G+ enablers. For instance, one of the country’s top glove manufacturers is developing advanced production facilities that use IoT technologies, while a local technology company introduced an IoT-based smart parking system to help optimize public parking spaces and reduce traffic congestion.

As Malaysia races to emerge out of the current crisis via greater digital adoption, its physical industries will be better positioned to improve their competitive advantage via SPE gains, even after riding the initial wave of adoption. Ultimately, these gains will be intensified with the nationwide adoption of 5G+, thus creating more avenues for such industries to contribute to the economy with greater impact.

Kayda Aziz launches Merdeka-themed music video with Shopee

Malaysian rapper Kayda Aziz is set to launch a new music video with Shopee on Merdeka Day as part of the e-commerce platform’s #ShopeeSapotLokal campaign. Malaysians as well as fans of Kayda can tune in to Shopee Malaysia’s Facebook and Instagram pages, or YouTube channel, on 31 August to catch the music video.

Kayda Aziz shared, “Working on the Merdeka Day campaign with Shopee has been a delightful and eye-opening experience for me. I got really inspired when I found out about some of our successful Malaysian entrepreneurs who have been selling their products on Shopee. I'm honoured to come up with the lyrics and I feel that the future for Malaysian e-commerce is very promising.”

She added that to be given the opportunity by Shopee was a humbling experience for her. “Working with their team was overall smooth as they trusted my songwriting process and understood my style of expression in music. Despite a few limitations because of the pandemic, I am proud that we could still manage our ways to come together in completing this project while we followed strict SOPs during recording, shooting an animation video featuring local entrepreneurs. I am truly happy with the outcome of it.”

Aptly titled #ShopeeSapotLokal, the music video depicts an animated version of six members of the local seller community on Shopee in an outer space theme as a way of paying tribute to how they aimed for and landed on the moon with their businesses. Metaphorically, that is.

The sellers are Amirah Norman (PotonGuler®️), Zeeda Aziz (Pasar Kedah), Jamie Thoo (Babymart), Juhairi Aziz (Viraller), Farah Suhaimi (Intan Kek Lapis Sarawak) and Kiridaren Jayakumar (Kedai Buku Bibliophile) with unique, inspiring stories to tell. With lyrics written by Kayda herself, she raps about the efforts and e-commerce journey of these sellers, while reminding everyone to not give up and believe in themselves.

WCT Group Posts Positive Performance for Q2FY21

Recording RM436 million in revenue and RM16 million profit attributable to equity holders amidst the pandemic

WCT Holdings Berhad (“WCT” or “the Group”), an investment holding company with businesses in engineering and construction, property development and investment in and management of retail malls and hotels recorded a higher revenue of RM436 million for its second quarter ended 30 June 2021 (“Q2FY21”) as compared to RM375 million in the preceding year’s corresponding quarter. The Group’s profit attributable to equity holders increased more than 2 times to RM16 million as compared to RM7 million recorded in the corresponding second quarter of 2020.

The positive performance is a testimony of the Group’s resilience amidst the Covid-19 resurgence during the second quarter of 2021 which impacted economic recovery and growth.

“Bank Negara Malaysia has revised its full-year gross domestic product growth forecast for Malaysia to between 3% and 4%, from the previous forecast of between 6% and 7.5% for 2021. Despite the revision, the Group remains optimistic of the economic recovery with the implementation of the first phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) and the gradual transition of the phases upon achieving herd immunity with the rollout of vaccines.

The current progress of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, having fully vaccinated over 50% of the country’s adult population would further pave the way towards resumption of economic activities, safer re-opening of our offices and premises and execution of our buildings and infrastructure projects as WCT continues to prioritise the well-being of our employees, customers and business associates, general public and communities in which we operate in,” said Dato’ Lee Tuck Fook, Group Managing Director.

Cumulatively, the Group registered a higher revenue of RM880 million for the first six months ended 30 June 2021, which is 19% above the RM738 million recorded in the preceding year’s corresponding period. The Group's profit attributable to equity holders increased significantly to RM82 million as compared to RM7 million achieved in the preceding year’s corresponding period.

The Group’s Engineering and Construction Division continues to perform, contributing 65% of the Group’s consolidated revenue in the first six months financial period ended 30 June 2021 and recorded a revenue of RM570 million (2QFY20:RM507 million). The Division registered an operating profit of RM82 million as compared to RM4 million recorded in the preceding year’s corresponding period.

The Group’s Property Development Division recorded higher revenue and operating profit of RM233 million (2QFY20: RM144 million) and RM92 million (2QFY20: RM49 million), respectively. The higher revenue and operating profit were attributed to the sale of undeveloped lands during the period under review.

The Property Investment and Management Division registered a lower revenue and operating profit of RM77 million (2QFY20: RM87 million) and RM38 million (2QFY20: RM41 million), respectively. The drop in revenue and operating profit was due to business disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessary movement restrictions imposed by the Government to curb the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the country.

Basic earnings per share was at 5.81 sen as compared to 0.53 sen in the preceding year’s corresponding period.

Moving forward, the Group’s Engineering and Construction Division will continue to focus on project execution, whilst eyeing for new opportunities to replenish the order book. The recently secured Sapangar Bay container port expansion contract in July has further strengthened the Group’s outstanding order book to approximately RM5.37 billion. For the current year to date, the Group’s property sales increased more than two-fold to RM362.1 million from RM148.6 million recorded in the preceding year’s corresponding period. As of 30 June 2021, the Group’s unbilled sales stood at RM147.1 million. The Property Development Division and Property Investment and Management Division expect the successful rollout of vaccines will lead to positive market sentiments and stimulate the demand for property. The eventual easing of restrictions on travel and renewed consumer confidence are expected to revitalize the five retail malls under the Group’s management as well as the hotels and business aviation services.

AirAsia is travel ready with highest safety and hygiene standards in place

Frontline staff 100% fully vaccinated for air travel resumption

AirAsia Group is ready to fly with its operating crew and frontline staff 100% vaccinated, alongside numerous contactless safety and hygiene measures in place to ensure the highest standards are maintained ahead of a resumption of air travel, expected in the near future.

“We are ready to fly and as part of our strict safety policy we are mandating that all of our operating crew and frontline staff serving guests, including pilots, cabin crew and airport staff are fully vaccinated to return to work,'' said Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

“We’ve always been about the people and it doesn’t just stop with our own Allstars (employees). With stringent health and hygiene protocols and robust standard operating procedures, guests can be assured of a 360 degree peace of mind when travelling with us again.

“The acceleration of vaccines in all of our key markets is setting us up for a strong return to the skies. More than 50% of the adult population in Malaysia is now fully vaccinated, and Malaysia is tracking to have at least 80% of its population vaccinated by the end of 2021. We are also seeing promising progress in Singapore, Korea and the Philippines.”

“More than 50 countries in the world have begun to welcome vaccinated travellers again. As Asean accelerates the vaccination effort, we are hopeful that countries will soon ease travel restrictions for vaccinated travellers for both domestic and international travel and will resume plans for travel bubbles.

“Thanks to vaccines being aggressively rolled out in all of our key markets, better testing and education, the end is in sight and I’m hopeful we will be able to return to the skies in coming weeks. Importantly, we are fully prepared and ready for take off.”

Safety of staff and guests is always the top priority for AirAsia Group, which was one of the first airlines worldwide to achieve the top 7/7 rating for being Covid-19 safe by the aviation experts at Airlineratings.com. All of the airlines in the Group are IOSA accredited which is the global benchmark for upholding the highest safety standards at all times. Furthermore, the airline has used the downtime in flying to implement robust procedures and innovations to make flying even safer and more hygienic than ever.

To ensure minimal physical interaction and processing time at the airport, guests are now encouraged to do self check-in online via the airasia super app platform and to use automated bag drop facilities to avoid fees for using a check in desk agent. AirAsia also provides numerous digital payment options and accepts mobile boarding passes at all airports it operates to.

A new check in feature enables guests to verify any required medical documents in real time online before heading to the airport and the airline Group is in the process of rolling out biometric facial recognition technology at key ports commencing with klia2 in the near future.

AirAsia will have its check in system via the airasia super app integrated with the Malaysian government’s MySejahtera digital health app to enable a seamless and hassle-free check in procedure.

Pilots go through regular recurrent training and aircraft are well maintained. Flight and ground crew have been strictly trained to ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests at all times.

Furthermore, HEPA filters on all AirAsia aircraft provide hospital grade airflow and the vertical downward air circulation in the cabin further prohibits the risk of any infection during flying.

“With all the uncertainties Covid-19 has provided, one thing I am sure of is that we will return to the skies soon with a more robust and viable business model which isn’t solely reliant on airfares alone as our digital transformation to become the Asean super app of choice is now fast becoming a reality,” added Tan Sri Tony.

To access a range of great value travel and lifestyle offerings from AirAsia Group, including online check in services and more, guests are encouraged to download the airasia super app before they fly, via the Apple App Store, Google Play Store or Huawei AppGallery.
