CTOS SME Biz Day Ends on a High in Kuching, Fueling Digital Growth for 6,000 SMEs Nationwide

CTOS SME Biz Day 2025 concluded its nationwide roadshow with a final stop in Kuching, Sarawak today, officiated by YB Datuk Wilson Ugak anak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital. The event brought together entrepreneurs, corporates, government agencies, investors, collaborators and solution providers to empower Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to unlock their full business potential. CTOS SME Biz Day has become a driving force for digitalisation, transformation, and innovation among SMEs to accelerate business growth amidst a dynamic market.

Throughout the year, CTOS SME Biz Day charted a course across Malaysia’s key economic regions, including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Johor, before completing its final roadshow in Kuching. The choice of strategic locations reflects CTOS’s commitment to both national and state-level visions of empowering SMEs as engines of growth, particularly through technology adoption and holistic SME growth and development. In Sarawak, this ambition aligns with the state’s digital economy agenda, tapping into the region’s rapid growth and export potential.

The encouraging turnout further underscores this momentum. In Kuching alone, over one thousand participants attended the event, bringing the total attendance for CTOS SME Biz Day 2025 to over 6,000 nationwide, a strong indicator of SMEs’ readiness to embrace change and thrive in the digital era.

CTOS’ mission to empower SMEs is fully aligned with the Ministry of Digital and one of its entities, MDEC’s Business Digitisation Initiative (BDI). In support of this vision, the event also welcomed key government agencies – including AKPK, MATRADE, SDEC and SME Corp. Malaysia – each playing a vital role in elevating Malaysian SMEs through a range of initiatives, from funding and technical support to capacity-building and development training.

Yang Berhormat Datuk Wilson Ugak anak Kumbong, Deputy Minister of Digital, who officiated the event, remarked, “To grow and take our place in the regional market, Sarawak must accelerate digitalisation. Thus, SMEs, as major business players, play a key role in this journey. The road to digital transformation will not always be smooth, but with perseverance, innovation, and collaboration, we can achieve remarkable success. With the support of the Digital Economy Blueprint and today’s partners, Sarawak SMEs are well-positioned to seize future opportunities.”

Lee Shin Mei, Chief Operating Officer of CTOS Data Systems Sdn Bhd added, "SMEs are more than just businesses, they are the lifeblood of our economy, the engines of innovation, and the heart of our local communities. Here in Kuching, we see how SMEs not only create jobs and opportunities, but also preserve culture, strengthen families, and shape the future of Sarawak. CTOS SME Biz Day is more than an event; it is a platform. A platform to celebrate the resilience of SMEs, to share knowledge, to inspire one another, and to build connections that will carry us all forward.."

Fueling Sarawak’s Economic Ambitions Through SME Digitalisation

The business sector alone is anticipated to contribute RM56.4 billion, further solidifying the role of SMEs in generating wealth and employment across the region.

To address this opportunity, CTOS introduced three key focus areas during the Kuching leg of SME Biz Day - E-Invoicing, Digital Economy, and Entrepreneur Panel Discussions, forming a holistic approach to empower Sarawak SMEs in navigating an increasingly competitive economic landscape.
