Taylor’s College, a leader in education and innovation, kickstarted the year with the sponsorship of more than RM80,000 to Bengkel Kecemerlangan Prinsip Perakaunan, an accounting workshop to prepare students for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and encourage more youths to pursue the profession as a career.

The 3 Days accounting workshop is organised by the Principles of Accounting Panel of Fully Residential School Management Division, Ministry of Education, supported by Malaysia Institution of Accountants (MIA) and was attended by 375 students from 11 boarding schools in Malaysia from 15 to 17 January 2023. Participants received hands-on training from three accounting Guru Cemerlang, providing students with the knowledge and skills to master the subject at SPM level and a solid foundation to succeed in the competitive world of accounting and finance in the future.
Leveraging on the institution’s community strength, Taylor’s College invited chartered accountants and business leaders Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad, Chairman of CIMB Group, and Izzad Shamsudin, Group Chief Financial Officer, KFC & Pizza Hut Malaysia to share valuable insights about the industry and inspire the students with their stories. The workshop also created networking opportunities with the accounting community, as speakers from MIA were invited to be a part of this initiative.

"We believe in the power of education to shape the future," said Jason Lo, Head of School of Professional Studies, Taylor’s College. "With MIA, we are investing in the future of our youths and the future of accounting in Malaysia. We are confident that this is a valuable experience for all participants, and we look forward to seeing the impact of this workshop on the careers of the students in developing the nation’s economic growth."
Apart from the workshop, Taylor’s College provided accounting kits that benefited 84 students from the Putrajaya District to sit for the 2022 SPM accounting paper. The accounting kit includes essentials such as an accounting calculator, a bag, and stationeries and it was given to the students in December last year.

To help nurture the students’ interest in accounting, Taylor’s College will be supporting students from the 11 schools to pursue accountancy on a 100% scholarship at Taylor’s College under the School of Professional Studies. There are various accounting pathways that students can choose from at Taylor’s – from ACCA Foundation in Accountancy, MICPA Programme, Foundation in Accounting, Diploma in Accounting and Bachelor programmes.
