POCKY CELEBRATES MERDEKA WITH LIMITED EDITION POCKY DURIAN AND POCKY ONDEH-ONDEH FLAVOURS

In conjunction with the new flavour launch, Pocky teams up with homegrown street artist to unveil street art that pays homage to Malaysian heritage

Glico Malaysia pays tribute to Malaysian flavours with its brand-new, Limited Edition Pocky Durian and Pocky Ondeh-Ondeh flavours, inviting Malaysians to ‘Share the Taste of Heritage’ while celebrating the nation’s 68th Merdeka Day.

Made with real and natural ingredients, Pocky Durian and Pocky Ondeh-Ondeh are a celebration of Malaysia’s beloved flavours in every bite.

Pocky Durian delivers a bold take on the King of Fruits, coated in a rich, creamy durian-chocolate layer made with real durian, while Pocky Ondeh-Ondeh captures the essence of the traditional kuih with a pandan chocolate coating topped with real desiccated coconut for a subtle hint of saltiness, wrapped around a nostalgic palm sugar-flavoured biscuit stick.

These delightful flavours, paired with Pocky’s signature crunchy biscuit stick, create a fun and sensory treat that brings local favourites to life in a whole new way.

Both the festive packs are presented in vibrant packaging inspired by Peranakan designs, featuring photorealistic illustrations and highlight the use of real ingredients - delivering not just a delicious experience, but one that celebrates Malaysia’s colourful cultural tapestry.

Its essence is beautifully captured in a specially-commissioned mural by Glico Malaysia – a share-worthy piece of street art that features Malaysia’s unique harmony of cultures and traditional motifs found in everyday life.[i]

Created by popular local street artist Abdulrashade, the mural is a vibrant expression of what unites Malaysian people, with emphasis on cultural unity, national pride and a shared love for local food. These shared connections inspired the artwork, which blends traditional Peranakan motifs with youthful energy - incorporating hobbies like photography and skateboarding - to capture the spirit of Malaysian youth.

“Malaysians are passionate about food and proud of our traditional flavours. With Pocky Durian and Pocky Ondeh-Ondeh, we’re sharing the happiness of traditional and familiar flavours in a new way that combines culture, flavour and creativity,” said Lee Yeen Theng, Managing Director of Glico Malaysia & International Cluster. “This mural brings that spirit to life, showcasing the talent of local artists and heritage flavours while celebrating Malaysia’s unity and diversity. As we mark our 68th Merdeka together, we look forward to many more years of bringing healthier days and wellbeing to all Malaysians.”

Set against the backdrop of Jalan Doraisamy in Chow Kit - just steps from the iconic Heritage Row and beloved local food haunts - the mural offers a colourful tribute to the rich diversity of Malaysian life, right where heritage meets modern urban culture.

“As a Malaysian street artist, I’m proud to create something that speaks to our shared identity. Coming from Penang, I grew up surrounded by Peranakan culture, and my family owns a durian plantation - so this piece is very personal,” said Abdulrashade. “The mural is about unity, youth, and heritage. I hope it inspires more people to see how street art can tell our national story in new ways.”
