The lion dance, a centuries-old and much-loved Chinese art form dates back 2,000 years. This pantomime performance that mimics the playful nature of the lion continues to entertain and create an authentic cultural experience for audiences young and old today!
Fans of the whimsical and endearing performance turned extreme sport can look forward to 3 exciting nights of mesmerizing performances as their favorite lion dance troupes from all over the world like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Australia, and many more gather at Resorts World Genting (RWG) for the 14th Genting World Lion Dance Championship which is set to take place from 4-6 August at the Arena of Stars.
The 14th Genting World Lion Dance Championship promises to return with greater intensity that will get the crowd roaring with excitement. The preliminary rounds of the competition are slated for 4-5 August, and the top teams with the highest scores will advance to the championship round on 6 August.
“Resorts World Genting is thrilled to host this yearly event once again because Malaysians of all races enjoy the lion dance,” said Roger Ong, Assistant Vice President for Events and Entertainment at RWG.
With victors receiving a slew of attractive prizes, this year's global representation is also anticipated to be even more extensive. The champions this year will leave with a US$15,000 cash reward, trophy and medals as a testament of their triumph! The prizes for the first and second place finishers are USD$8,000 and USD$5,000, along with a trophy and medals, respectively. The remaining eight finalists will each receive a trophy and cash prize of USD$1,500.
The highly coveted East and West Lion King trophies, since its inception at past tournaments, will also be awarded to the top teams from Asia and Western nations. In addition to these notable awards, the star-studded teams have more prizes to look forward to: the special Golden Drum Award, as decided by the judging panel and the People's Choice Award, as voted by the audiences!
Attendees can expect to witness the best lion dancers in the world to engage in a fierce competition for these prestigious titles and prizes, where pride and honor transcend in a display of beautiful artistic merit!

- 1 Day Pass: RM60.00 (PS2 – Free seating)
- 3 Days Pass: RM230.00 (PS1 – Numbered seat), RM140.00 (PS2 – Free seating)
Children shorter than 95cm are eligible for the RM50 child ticket without a seat. Genting Rewards Cards members are eligible to purchase tickets via cash, credit card or GP redemption. An additional RM4 processing fee applies.
