It’s the World Pest Day awareness in June! Rentokil Initial Malaysia is driving their annual nationwide Adopt-a-School CSR programme across all its branches in the month of June, with each branch collaborating with one school in their local community to raise the awareness of pest management. This year, Rentokil Initial Malaysia has teamed up with local authorities such as the Ministry of Health (MOH) to further inculcate the awareness towards managing pest issues and adopting good hygiene practices among the younger generations. This initiative is supported by Pest Control Association of Malaysia (PCAM) in conjunction with World Pest Day which happens on 6 June annually.

We have kicked off our CSR programme at Butterworth and Penang last week before coming back to Selangor at Sekolah Kebangsaan Petaling Jaya. The programme features informative Dengue Awareness Talk, which highlights the importance of eliminating Aedes mosquito breeding grounds to prevent Dengue fever. Besides, Personal Hygiene Talk was subsequently shared to educate students about the good washroom and proper hand hygiene habits. Both talks were shared by the technical experts from Rentokil Initial.

After hearing the informative talk sessions, students were happy to receive the educational packs. Rentokil Initial Malaysia also adopted the washrooms of the school, equipped with full washroom hygiene facilities to allow students to practice proper hygiene habits after attending the educational talks. Mosquito fogging services will also be carried out on a quarterly basis to help eliminate adult mosquito breeding spots.

Living by their mission - Protecting People, Enhancing Lives, it is our aim to protect people from the dangers of pest-borne disease, risk of contamination from poor hygiene habits and enhancing lives in the community with our pest and hygiene services.

The President of PCAM, Encik Nor Hisham bin Haji Badri adds on: “On this World Pest Day, PCAM would like to express our gratitude to all professional pest managers who contribute to the elimination and mitigation of health importance, quarantine and structural pests. The PCAM thank everyone who is directly and indirectly involved in promoting pest awareness campaign especially to Rentokil Initial for leading the initiatives in Malaysia.”

“Being a responsible corporate citizen is a commitment that is instilled in Rentokil Initial, we highly emphasise on the significance of maintaining good pest management and proper sanitation to sustain a healthy environment in the community by leveraging on our passion and technical expertise. We will continue to do what is right for our community whilst strengthening our company vision and values,” said Ms. Carol Lam, the Managing Director of Rentokil Initial Malaysia and Deputy President of PCAM.
