Current statistics of COVID-19 [27 February 2020]

Worldwide current statistics of COVID-19 (updated at 8am, 27th Feb 2020). Seven (7) new countries were listed among the countries involved namely Pakistan, North Macedonia, Georgia, Romania, Brazil, Greece and Norway.  Brazil became first country from South America to record its first case of COVID-19 infection. A 61 year old male was reported went to Lombardy, Italy before he was confirmed with the infection.  Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Monday that the coronavirus epidemic has "peaked" in China. In other development, the total cases in Malaysia remain at 22, including 20 cured.

Worldwide current statistics of COVID-19 (updated at 6 pm, 26th Feb 2020). Total cases increased in South Korea with 12 deaths. The vast majority of the new infections were in Daegu, the country's fourth-largest city and the epicentre of the outbreak, and the neighbouring province of North Gyeongsang. Scores of events have been cancelled or postponed as the outbreak has spread, from K-pop concerts to the start of the K-league football season. Meanwhile, the total cases in Malaysia remain at 22, including 20 cured.

Second mission to evacuate Malaysians from Wuhan to go ahead as planned - NADMA

The second mission to bring back 75 Malaysian citizens and their families who have been stranded in Wuhan, China, following the COVID-19 outbreak in the republic will go ahead as planned, despite the current political situation in the country. According to a National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) spokesman, the Malaysians would be flown from Wuhan via a special AirAsia flight which is expected to arrive tomorrow (Feb 26) at 6am. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Azizah Wan Ismail was reported as saying that the Foreign Ministry and NADMA in collaboration with AirAsia were arranging for the second evacuation flight. Dr Mahathir resigned as Prime Minister, Azmin and Zuraida sacks from PKR

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was reported to have just handed in his resignation letter to His Majesty, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. The resignation is believed to be related to the political upheaval in Pakatan Harapan (PH) since last Friday's Presidential Council meeting. Sinar Harian reported that Prime Minister's Department will be releasing a statement in the near future.
